Certificates In Fitness – Theory vs Practical

Hi. My name’s Stewart. I’m the manager of the College of Health and Fitness.

One of the things that we hear from our students all the time is, “What about the practical component of the course?” If you’re going to work in the fitness industry one of the most important things you need to be able to do is to relate to your clients. So one of the really important parts of your course is actually being able to work in an environment, in a gym, in a real-life situation where you can see clients, you can see the equipment.

So as part of your course here at the college, if you’re coming here on a full time or part time, we take you to a real gym just up the road or downstairs where you can get access to real equipment, you can see real clients. And our trainers will take you through the sorts of exercises, the use of the sorts of equipment you’re going to be using once you’re working in the industry. This is a really important part of your course.

If you can’t get access to a real-life environment, then you’re not going to be able to put your skills and knowledge to practice. So you’re going to be able to work with the clients once you graduate. We make sure that’s an important part of your course.

We have really good industry partners who allow you to come into their environment and get to see how a real gym operates and get to see real clients operating in that environment. This is really important.

We like to think that it’s one of the things that makes us different from some of the other places that you might do your course and it’s certainly a major distinctive factor between doing your course purely online, where you don’t get access to that sort of environment, and doing it in a face-to-face environment like there is here.

If you’d like some more information about our courses, about the practical component, about things you’re going to learn, then give us a call here at the college at (07) 3385 0195 or send us an email at enquiries@thecollegeofhealthandfitness.qld.edu.au.
